VGA switcher usage and FAQ

VGA switcher refers to a tool that switches multiple VGA signal input devices to display on one VGA output device. For example, one display can control two computer hosts through a VGA switcher, thereby saving space and simplifying operations. VGA switch is also called VGA two-in-one-out or multi-in-one-out, which is mainly used in office scenarios.

1. How to use the VGA switch

Use a VGA cable to connect the two computer hosts to the two input ports of the switch, and connect the monitor to the output port of the switch. The interface positions of different models are slightly different. Pay attention to the VGA input port (IN) and output port (OUT) Just don’t plug it in. Take the GreenLink VGA switcher as an example:

This product is a Greenlink KVM two-in-one-out switch. In addition to enabling two computer hosts to share one monitor, a set of keyboard and mouse is added to control the two hosts. The connection diagram is as follows:

2. Description of common problems of VGA switcher

1: The screen is blurry

The most common problem with VGA switchers is that the screen is blurry after switching. This may be the reason why the resolution of the host is out of sync after the switch, because after the switch, the default resolution of the graphics card changes, so the resolution needs to be re-adjusted (the following figure shows the adjustment method). It may also be the reason for the poor signal shielding performance of the VGA cable or switcher. At this time, you can only try to replace the cable.

2: Black screen after switching devices

This situation is more common in NVIDIA graphics cards, and it is also a resolution problem. You can re-adjust the resolution. The adjustment method is to open the control panel, select the NVIDIA control panel, and then select the appropriate resolution according to the icon.

The usage methods of other multi-input VGA switches are basically the same, and the failures can also be eliminated by adjusting the resolution and replacing the wires. For more VGA-related issues, please refer to the technical support of the Green Alliance official website.
